PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer 4, in Tukwila, WA.
Job Description:
Software Engineer (Mission Systems) to join the KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Avionics (MSA) software team located in Tukwila, WA, within the Defense, Space & Security (BDS); Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization.
The MSA team supports U.S. Air Force and international KC-46 customers and other platforms, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that provide tactical situational awareness to the flight crew and on-board network systems. The latter enables net-centric applications and beyond line of sight communication for the warfighter via secure and non-secure ground networks during KC-46 aerial refueling missions.
This position will include a variety of software development assignments, such as new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Internal Research and Development (IR&D) activities.

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Position Responsibilities:
* Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
* Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
* Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
* Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
* Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
* Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
* Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
* Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
* Works under minimal direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
* Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
* 3 years of experience with UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows development environment
* 3 years of experience programming in C
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
* 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience with JAVA
* Experience developing embedded (real-time) software
* Experience with bus communications and protocols including MIL-STD-1553
* Experience with Electromagnetic Support Measures (ESM), Passive Trackers and/or Link16
* Experience with open architecture constructs like Open Mission Systems (OMS)
* Hardware and Software Integration experience
Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience (e.g. PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
