Job Summary Fishbeck is seeking a Hydrogeologist to support groundwater supply and water resource projects. As a Hydrogeologist with Fishbeck, you will join a team of passionate professionals tasked with evaluating hydrogeologic conditions, analyzing aquifer performance tests, and designing and overseeing installation of water supply wells. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and high technical competency to help clients realize their water resource needs. Primary Functions
  • Oversee, direct, and manage subcontractors.
  • Coordinate site security and safety for multiple projects.
  • Support the collection and analysis of hydrogeologic and hydrologic data.
  • Interpret hydrogeologic systems, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
  • Design and analyze aquifer tests and characterize groundwater flow.
  • Analyze and interpret subsurface characteristics through drilling programs and geophysical investigations (i.e., installation of soil borings/monitoring wells/production wells, logging soil/rock cores, vertical aquifer profile, direct imaging borings, etc.)
  • Assist with the design, testing, and development of water supply wells.
  • Produce reports and technical documents utilizing data collected in the field.
  • Responsibly manage projects with respect to finances, budgets, schedules, and staff coordination.
  • Prepare proposals including labor, subcontractor, and equipment costs.
  • Direct and train entry-level staff.
  • Foster and develop client relationships.
  • Represent Fishbeck in the professional community through conferences and organizations.
Minimum Physical Requirements Ability to conduct fieldwork, moderate lifting and hiking through uneven terrain, construction, or drilling sites. Will also have normal office working conditions and be required to sit and use a computer. Must be able to drive vehicle to project sites. Visual acuity and physical strength and endurance necessary to perform responsibilities. Desired Education/Licensure Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology, or Hydrogeology. PE license, CPG certification, and/or MS degree a plus. Desired Skills/Experience
  • 10+ years' experience in remedial hydrogeology and/or water supply projects.
  • Strong communication skills with all types of stakeholders, including drilling contractors, community members, government regulators, and consulting professionals, is essential. Communication and team management is the foundation of this position.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • Familiarity with the USCS classification system is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of field equipment, including pressure transducers and field meters.
  • Able to work in a team setting and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to worker health and safety and willingness to speak up if problems arise.
  • Sensitivity to quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office-based software programs.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS software, aquifer test analysis software, groundwater flow and fate and transport modeling, geochemical modeling, and/or environmental geostatistical analyses a plus.
  • OSHA and MSHA training a plus.
  • Construction management skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with drinking water and water withdrawal regulations.
