Be part of an extraordinary life Carillon Senior Living is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Nurse Manager to join our team SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing nursing care in the Health Center. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center. * Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence. * Administers direct nursing care, on the floor, when more than routine care is indicated. * Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment. * Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records. * Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff. * Assures timeliness of physician visits and accompanies physicians when making rounds. * Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. * Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans, and conference in the absence of the MDS Coordinator. * Assists with orientation of nursing personnel. * Participates in family/resident counseling * Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents' independence. * Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies. * Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures. * On-call for RN Supervisor, DON, and/or Staffing Coordinator. * Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY * Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written. * Work as team and assist all other department members when needed. * Be able to work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals and other departments within the system. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Must communicate with internal and external contacts in a professional manner. * Have the ability to maintain a professional relationship with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff by demonstrating appropriate interpersonal skills and demeanor. * Possesses knowledge of and implements infection control and universal precaution practices. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. * Maintains a current license with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. * Have a current card for the successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR - Healthcare Provider). * Have Geriatric/Rehabilitation experience with a good understanding of restorative nursing.
