An Application Engineer I works under direct supervision to ensure the availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of websites, servers, services and development infrastructure related to internet and web based application platforms.

  • Under supervision, assists in the development and support of all Internet/Intranet/Extranet sites and supporting systems.
  • Works closely with other IT groups and customers to define the system design and user interface based on customer needs and objectives.
  • Participates in all phases of the development and implementation process, and may participate on project teams
  • Ensures the integration of the Web servers and all other supporting systems.
  • Responsible for system tuning, optimization of information/data processing, maintenance and support of the production environment.
  • Generally performs single function tasks that tend to be of moderate size and scope.
  • Has a proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions of a position.
  • May participate in high profile production issues as part of an Emergency Response Team.
  • Participates in root cause analysis for high profile outages to critical applications.
  • Expected to participate in 24/7 on call rotation in support of maintenance and issue resolution of the production environment.
  • Troubleshoots and supports multi-tiered applications.
  • Ensure system health and stability.
  • Performs special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience as a Systems Administrator required.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Back Office products.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SSL, Web Services and Information Security.
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL and scripting in batch and Powershell.
  • Computer literate with a proficiency in Microsoft office products and Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Exercises sound judgment. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to maintain a professional composure with customers in difficult situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to customer information and employee records.
