@Orchard, LLC, has been retained by a fast-growing geospatial technology services firm in their search for an experienced Backend Software Engineer with Java experience to join their team in support of Defense, Intelligence, and Federal clients to achieve mission success and solutions for varied mission-critical programs. Projects can span a wide range of software and analytical methodologies and lie at the intersection of software development and geospatial intelligence. Our clients work with soldiers and geospatial analysts to produce solutions that allow them to develop better situational understanding of complex operational pictures. They do everything from data collection to UI/UX development and advanced deep learning, using a broad toolset including Python, C#, and ArcGIS. Their projects include cutting-edge R&D efforts, as well as large mission programs incorporating data processing/optimization, data dissemination techniques, visualization, and collaboration across the commercial and government sectors.

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will:
    • Formulate plans, develop, and implement software solutions including language, coding, platform, resource requirements, testing, and documentation
    • Determine technical objectives for user requirements and specifications and plan for enterprise software development within the broader organizational scope
    • Develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment
    • Assist in the planning and coordination of deployment of enterprise applications including cross-platform compliance
    • Assist in the planning and coordination of the maintenance of enterprise solutions including debugging, maintenance, and updating to ensure viability in an evolving environment
    • May provide direction and guidance to less experienced developers or the team of developer
Your Background should include the following:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with an ability to obtain SCI access and willingness to obtain CI Polygraph
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering or software development for information technology systems
  • Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala
  • Experience working with Linux systems
  • Comfortable with version control and Git
  • Ability to obtain Security + Certification

  • Database technologies, such as: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or others
