Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Human Resources Director will manage an HR team comprised of four (4) HR Business Partners, DEI Consultant, and one (1) HR Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience assessing, managing, coaching, and developing direct reports. Work closely with department heads and HR teams to identify key engagement drivers and develop programs that enhance employee satisfaction and motivation.

The HR Director will collaborate with the CPO to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the HR department's policies, activities, and staff, ensuring legal compliance and implementing One Hope United's mission and strategy. This role is central to creating a diverse, respectful, engaging, and inclusive work environment for all staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day organizational HR support delivered by direct reports, fostering communicative and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
• Serve as a trusted business partner to the senior leadership team, ensuring consistent and transparent communication that supports strategic priorities and business needs.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive employee engagement and retention strategy aligned with the organization's goals and values.
• Implement initiatives that promote employee well-being, work-life balance, and a sense of belonging.
• Conduct regular surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews to gauge employee satisfaction and identify areas for improvement using data-driven insights to continually assess and improve engagement strategies.

Plans, coordinates, and executes employee engagement activities and events that enhance employee morale, satisfaction, and commitment and align with the engagement strategy of creating a highly engaged culture.
• Provide leadership and guidance to a team of professionals dedicated to employee engagement and retention.
• Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including employment processing, communication, and monitoring compensation program.
• Research, propose, and manage benefits programs for One Hope United, along with the CPO, to ensure the best total rewards are being offered to employees.
• Lead and manage the annual open enrollment process for employee benefits, with a corresponding communication strategy.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, EEO and OSHA reporting, and collaborating with the CPO and outside counsel as needed.
• Direct, timely processing of all worker's compensation, FMLA, Leaves of Absence, and unemployment claims by the HR team.
• Oversee and approve all assigned HRIS employee-related workflows.
• Monitor and oversee internal and external equity and HR metrics.
• Remain abreast of human resources trends and the nonprofit sector through relevant webinars, books, articles, blogs, and other sources.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
• Maintain company organization charts and employee directory.
• Manage revisions and updates to OHU's employee handbook as necessary.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field required.
• Master's degree or a related advanced degree preferred.

Experience
• Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience in human resources
• Minimum 5 years managing, coaching, and developing direct reports.
• Additional experience with human resources best practices and a strong understanding of nonprofit business models and best practices preferred.
• Working knowledge and expert experience with HRIS systems and payroll processing.
• Relevant HR certification desired - PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP preferred.

Other
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with OHU-required levels of coverage for auto insurance. Ability to travel throughout the states of Illinois and Florida.

HR administrative tasks, assists in shaping organizational culture, unifies and collaborates, deploys employee engagement strategies, coaching, hiring/onboarding best practices, and employee separation practices.
