Background/Expertise:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required, and graduation and certification from recognized school of Medical Technology or the equivalent.
  • Participates in available continuing education programs to maintain and improve professional skills. Minimal requirement is 12 hours of CEUs per year.
  • The minimal accepted experience is the successful completion of a medical technologist student internship.
  • Requires current registration as MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), MT (HHS), MT (AAB) or equivalent corresponding to the area of specialization. In the case of equivalence, competency in the field must be established.
  • Must have knowledge of medical laboratory terminology.
