Job Description

* Schedule: Part-time, 24 hours per week, Days

Under the general supervision of the Center's Medical Director and Team Specialist, the Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services and patient/staff/community education. The Technologist may also be assigned to taking charge of the Center in the absence of the Lead Technologist/Team Specialist.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications:

Licensure: N/A

Experience: Two years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician/Technologist and documented proficiency of competencies within 90 days.

Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED).

Registration/Certification: Registration by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and in compliance with the BRPT Standards of Conduct. Current certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) within 30 days of hire.

Other: Demonstrates extensive knowledge of various polysomnographic procedures and techniques, equipment utilized and applicable regulations. Must be competent in the use of computerized systems and digital EEG/Polysomnographic systems.

Requires strong analytical and organizational skills to perform various polysomnographic tests, monitor patients and document related activity thoroughly and accurately to provide desired levels of service to the physician and patient.

Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers, as needed.

Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.

Requires strong knowledge of adult and children's educational/learning process that includes the normal growth, development and related behaviors, needs, comfort and range of treatment appropriate to age: including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

Actions and behaviors demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and customer service.

Demonstrates the ability to remain poised and confident in the performance of job responsibilities.
