Position summary:

The Suh Laboratory at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is actively seeking 1 highly motivated research scientist to join our dynamic research team focused on human ovarian aging. The ideal candidate will be deeply engaged in employing advanced computational and bioinformatics methods to unravel the complexities of ovarian aging. The applicant should have a robust background in genomics and bioinformatics, coupled with a keen interest in applying state-of-the-art single-cell omics technologies, including single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, and spatial transcriptomics, to investigate the molecular underpinnings of ovarian aging and its implications for women's health. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of aging research, contributing to groundbreaking work that bridges reproductive biology and gerontology.

* Job Responsibilities

  • * Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets, specifically focusing on single-cell omics data such as single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, and spatial transcriptomics, as well as relevant genomic databases and high-throughput sequencing datasets pertaining to human ovarian aging.
  • * Generating innovative hypotheses from the integration and analysis of single-cell omics data, both from within our laboratory's research and external studies, and developing comprehensive research strategies to explore the molecular mechanisms of ovarian aging.

  • * Demonstrating independent learning and critical thinking in a dynamic research environment, while also collaborating effectively on various ongoing projects related to reproductive aging and women's health.

Minimum Degree Required

A doctoral degree in biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field with a focus on aging, reproductive biology, or women's health.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of single-cell omics data analysis, including hands-on experience with technologies like single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Solid understanding of the human genome, specifically related to gene expression patterns and cell biology in the context of ovarian aging.
  • Proficiency in R and at least one other programming language, such as Python or Perl, with experience in handling large-scale biological datasets

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of reproductive biology and human genetics, with a specific focus on ovarian function and aging.

Previous experience in research projects related to ovarian aging, reproductive health, or age-related diseases in women.
