Position Summary:

1. Directs the day to day operations of Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Phlebotomy/ Central Processing, Point of Care, or LIS under the general direction of the Department Manager
2. Ensure compliance with all JCAHO/ CAP standards
3. Identify and resolve QC or equipment issues
4. Establishes/ writes policies and procedures
5. Monitors all quality indicators as outlined in the Laboratory Quality Plan
6. Develop staffing schedules and adjust staffing as necessary
7. Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory testing as well as communicate effectively with medical staff.
8. Ability to work with patients of all ages: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
9. Maintains a working knowledge of laboratory computer systems.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent is Required
Two years of college is Required
Associate's degree is Required
Bachelor's degree is Preferred

Required Skills/Certifications

Registration as a MT (or equivalent in specialty area i.e. chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, etc.) by ASCP, NCA, AMT or other recognized agency; and at least 4 years of experience as a medical technologist are required.
