Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety focused Part-Time Transfer Attendant/Heavy Equipment Operator to join the team in Hood River, Oregon.

Starting wage is $34.13/HR

Schedule: Part-Time (2-3 days/Week), working days TBD

Safety Sensitive Position: Yes

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
* Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe, and/or front-end loader.
* Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
* Track measurement information in computer system.
* Ensuring that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
* Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
* Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.
* Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
* Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
* Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
* Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
* Ability to work in all weather conditions.
* Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
* This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
* Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
* To be eligible for employment, candidate must pass a criminal background check, & drug panel screening as well as have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
