ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS Non-rotating 40 hour work week; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Will work in the Open Records Section of the Central Records Department, act on the behalf of the Custodian of Records as needed. Daily tasks include coordinate with all divisions of the Police Department to gather requested information for release of information within the guidelines of the Public Information Act. Communicate with Civilian Personnel, Sworn Personnel, and Investigators, work very closely with Legal Staff and supervisors to review and prioritize Open Records requests regarding files, investigation reports, photos, audio/video recordings and statements for high profile and sensitive case files, including but not limited to Internal Affair files and personnel records. Gather and organize files for the Assistant City Attorney in an effort to request a ruling from the Office of the Attorney General. Ensures reports are eligible for release to the public, including redacting confidential information on reports for release to requestors in accordance with the Attorney Generals Ruling. Communicate with Law Enforcement Agencies and City Attorneys in regards to request of information, ensuring abidance with the Public Information Act. Other duties include reviewing, updating and enforcing legislative changes on a bi-annual basis to our internal procedures, in an effort to avoid any penalties or consequences for non-compliance. Coordinates and conducts staff trainings to new Civilian Employees regarding Open Records procedures. Maintains spreadsheets for statistics for Open Records requests as well as subpoenas. Testify in court proceedings when subpoenaed by District Courts. Makes referrals and acts as a liaison with appropriate community agencies, specific to needs. May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position requires a High School Diploma or GED and (2) two years of directly related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Some college with at least two (2) years of experience in a business or law enforcement setting preferred. Requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical office processes. Customer service, data entry and research skills are essential. Must be able to obtain TCIC/NCIC certification within six (6) months of employment. Must have a valid Class C driver's license at time of application and at time of hire. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel preferred. Finalists will be required to undergo a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test. Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
