Summary

The Children's Center Student Employees support the Children's Center department by providing basic assistance and completing day to day tasks. Student Employees will be assigned to a specific job within the department. Student employees will work on a part time basis, often with flexible schedules to accommodate class needs.

Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours to be eligible for student employment opportunities during Fall and Spring semesters. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours to be eligible for student employment opportunities during Summer semesters.

Essential Functions

Children's Center Employment Opportunities Include:

Childcare

* Prepare meals, including some cooking tasks, as well as serving food.
* Sanitize and clean items around the center as directed and requested by the Children's Center Manager and Staff. This includes laundry, dishes, and other chores.
* Maintain daily supply stocking in each classroom.
* Maintain accurate lunch counts.
* Retrieve and return the lunch cart from cafeteria, Before and after lunch time.
* Monitor the general upkeep and cleanliness of the Center.
* Answer Children Center phone line and help maintain office.
* Inform appropriate staff of any concerns for maintenance, repairs, grocery and supply lists, and necessary custodian services.
* Assist teachers with supervision of children in the Children's Center during play, meals and rest periods.
* Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

* Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours at ICC during the semester of employment for fall or spring or enrolled in 3 credit hours for summer employment.
* Sanitary practices for healthy living.
* Understand basic math principles .
* Understand food safety and handling.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

* Enrolled in Child Development, Education, Nursing, Psychology, or related classes.
* Experience working around food and/or in food service.
