DescriptionSr. Director / Director of Wholesale Network Operations Center (NOC) General Position Summary The Sr. Director/ Director of the Windstream Wholesale Network Operations Center (“NOC”) /Operations will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the Windstream Wholesale network infrastructure, network edge devices supporting customer services and for overall customer service support. Responsible for 24x7x365 NOC responsible for daily performance and availability of the Wholesale network. Analyzes network incidents and recommends changes; assesses organization's current and future systems and processes needs. The “NOC” Director leads Network Operations Center Managers, Network Analysts and NOC support team members to ensure that they are performing their duties efficiently and effectively. This role within Windstream Wholesale will require a strong technical background, leadership skills, a strong customer focus and the ability to address customer escalations while under extreme pressure. The “NOC” Director is expected to report weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual network and operational performance and KPI’s review to senior executives within the Windstream Wholesale unit. Also, holds monthly or quarterly business reviews for Windstream Wholesale customers. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, networking and operating system expertise as well as serve as an escalation resource for all network incidents communicating directly with Customers and partners in support of the company and its end user community. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and responsible for analyzing problems, developing solutions, and making decisions that impact network operations. Requires extensive knowledge of NOC operations, systems, and processes. Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently without direct supervision. Determine own methods of performing assigned work. Demonstrate initiative and sense of urgency and proactive in initiating process improvement and solve problems. Must have strong staff management experience, project management, and customer service skills to carry out all responsibilities. Maintenance and support of data center operations, network hardware, software, and NOC applications Provides technical expertise and guidance, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs When necessary, work in concert with Vendors, TNOC and FOPS for problem resolution Supervise, train and support the NOC techs and analysts. Develop and maintain operational user manuals and guidelines. Accept and perform additional job duties, assignments or projects as directed by your immediate supervisor or management for the betterment of the Company. Specific Job Skills Maintains an appropriate sense of urgency during outages. Has the ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management, peers, and customers. Must be responsible for directing a team of network operations center managers and analysts. Able to utilize a variety of automation and technical tools to diagnose and improve efficiency of manual processes. Has a commitment to continuous operational improvement. Exercises sound business practices to build positive working relationships with peers and customers. Responsible for the empowerment, growth, development, and success of NOC professionals. Develops, grooms, and maintains relationships within other departments and customers. Identifies training needs to determine the best path for growth within the NOC organization while developing a strategy to grow the teams’ competency and needed technical skills. Motivates and supports staff to accomplish important objectives. Ability to develop and maintain Quality Assurance standards. Serves as an escalation point for internal and external high priority issues. Has experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools. Can organize weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews and deliver a meaningful summary of recent performance while also indicating improvement opportunities. Able to communicate and interact effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams at various levels in an effective and professional manner. Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously while working under the pressures of time constraints in a fast-paced work environment. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as being a good listener. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, organize workload and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Education And/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecommunications Networks or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Minimum 12 years in the Telecommunications field (education and experience). Minimum of five years running large Transport NOC Transport Engineering experience is required.
