Job Overview-

The PICU (pediatricICU) at the Bristol Myers Squibb Children s Hospital (BMSCH) at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking to add another acute care certified PNP to our practice. This is a 0.75 FTE (3 10-hr daytime shifts per week) position. You can join an established group practicing in this exciting unit. Our PICU is a 20-bed combined medical-surgical PICU with over 800 admissions per year.

BMSCH is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System and is part of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital which currently holds their 5th Magnet status.

The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and research. The PICU APN provides care and management for high-acuity patients in the pediatric intensive care unit in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team with an increased level of accountability. Coordinates care for complex, medically fragile patients. A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected. Independence with invasive procedures that requires training will be provided. The PICU APN also serves as clinical leader and educator for both medical and nursing staff, providing mentorship for both in-house resident physicians and RNs. The schedule will be weekdays and weekends with flexibility a necessity. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with excellent communication and team skills, coordination of patient care, and good organizational skills.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: NJ APN/RN license required. Pediatric Acute Care Certification, BLS, PALS required. Experience: 2 years pediatric acute care/intensive care experience preferred.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ Current Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN in the State of New Jersey is required.

+ Certification as Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner required.

+ BLS, PALS required.

Preferred:

+ 2 years pediatric acute care/intensive care experience

Scheduling Requirements:

+ Part time

+ 30 hours
