Responsibilities:

  • Provide clerical support by answering telephones, scheduling and registering patients.
  • Appointment scheduling, managing referrals, obtaining authorizations, inbasket management, etc.
  • Verify insurance coverage, obtain patient demographics, ensure necessary authorizations are obtained prior to patient visits, and may troubleshoot billing problems.

Requirements:

  • Education/ Knowledge, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience in a high-volume specialty physician practice office as typically acquired in one year.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of managed care, Medi-Cal, Medicare eligibility, authorization and billing requirements and physician billing procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Access and similar programs.
  • Experience in medical office setting and IDX system desired.

Skills

  • Ability to identify problems, prioritize, and problem solve.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of English language, grammar and composition.
  • Basic math skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Medical billing skills sufficient to coordinate authorization and billing requests.
  • This position requires this patient health information in order to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
