From conducting flight safety investigations, educating pilots on potential safety threats, implementing medical programs, and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.Job overview and responsibilitiesThis position is responsible for the overall strategic planning, implementation, correspondence, tracking, and oversight of Regulatory Compliance programs at United. This Senior Manager leads a team responsible for cross-divisional collaboration and coordination on regulatory and compliance matters. The Senior Manager also works closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and other associated regulators in domestic and international locations to ensure regulatory compliance. This position also provides timely and quality responses and products to regulators. The Senior Manager should have experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and be prepared to work across United’s operations on various operational safety and regulatory compliance issues.The Senior Manager is responsible for hiring, onboarding, managing, and leading the regulatory compliance team in accordance with the Working Together Guidelines.Dangerous GoodsThis position is responsible for ensuring Dangerous Goods training programs are maintained in accordance with domestic and foreign regulations and associated statutes, additionally supporting the continuous surveillance, disclosure, acceptance, and compliance programs within United Airlines.Regulatory ComplianceThis position is responsible for overseeing Corporate Safety’s Regulatory Compliance activities, including leading the Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program (VDRP) per FAA Advisory Circular 00-58B. Serves as a subject matter expert for division SMEs on corporate regulatory compliance issues and coordinates responses to FAA compliance action notices and enforcement actions. Answers FAA request for information on regulatory events and reports passenger disturbance information to the FAACoordinates with regulatory authorities to manage regulatory programs verbally and in written reports.Responsible for Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) responses.Regulatory Compliance OversightPrepares written reports outlining assessments, observations, and findingsMonitors, tracks, trends, and communicates corrective action commitments and implementation to all key partnersLeads team responsible for VDRP, Compliance Action Notices, and SAFA responsesResponds to FAA requests for information and reports passenger disturbance information to the FAALiaise with SMS Manager and Takeoff Learning to ensure implementation and maintenance of initial and annual training is provided to standardize process and performance of divisional regulatory compliance process ownersProject ManagementLeads all Corporate Safety regulatory oversight activitiesDevelops dashboard reporting for regulatory oversight activitiesEnsures records of regulatory reports are appropriately maintainedDangerous GoodsCollaborates to develop and administer strategies to ensure Dangerous Goods are transported safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards by supporting the design, development, and implementation of Dangerous Goods related policies, business processes and procedures across the enterprise. Maintains Dangerous Goods Management Group websiteProvides expertise to internal client organizations in coordination with divisional DG representatives, to ensure Dangerous Goods regulations and standards are accurately interpreted and applied to their policies, in support of critical operational and business imperatives. Provides expertise to support audit and evaluation tools and assists in administration of the Dangerous Goods Management ProgramMonitors, tracks, and analyzes performance indicator data to identify quality improvement opportunities and advocates corrective action with internal and external partnersDevelops and maintains collaborative working relationships with DG support staff and subject matter authorities within Airport Operations and Cargo, Flight Operations, Dispatch, Inflight and Tech Ops Divisions, and affiliated support organizations to improve Dangerous Goods safety and compliance performance. Works with operating divisions and their training organizations to identify employee training needs pertaining to Dangerous Goods, to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training programs and maintain FAA approval under Operations Specification A055Represents United’s interests before US and international regulatory authorities, and industry associations such as IATA-Dangerous Goods Board, COSTHA (Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles) and ATAUnited values diverse experiences, perspectives, and we encourage everyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply.
