Primary Scheduled Hours: 70 hours per pay period - Variable 10 - hour shifts

Job Summary:

Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the entire perioperative period. As the Circulating RN; Communicates with surgeon and anesthesia provider continuously and as needed about patient condition, participates in performance improvement activities, assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met, monitors, positions, preps and assists patient during procedure. Works in the preoperative arena to include; pre-op area to prepare patients for surgery by obtaining health history, starting IV's and giving pre-op medications as ordered. Works in the PACU recovering both phase I and phase II patients through discharge.

* 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
* 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
* Retail Pharmacy
* 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
* 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility



Education Background and Experience

Minimum Education:

Graduate from an accredited Nursing school.

Required Licensure / Certifications:

* Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Washington.
* Call required for this position with a 30 minute response time.
* Current ACLS or Basic EKG or Arrhythmia-identification certification, NRP, PALS, BLS within (1) year of hire.

Required Experience:

Minimum one (1) year work experience in operating room. Willing to train to perioperative setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Surgical Nursing experience, CNOR certification. BSN

* Approaches patient in a kind, gentle and friendly manner.
* Responds to patient's inappropriate behavior in a therapeutic manner.
* Takes appropriate actions and documents in response to manifested anxiety or distress. Requests Social Service/Pastoral Care, as appropriate.
* Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
* Adapts nursing procedures to meet the needs for treatment of individual neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
* Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate actions in a timely manner.
* Demonstrates ability to assess cardiorespiratory systems for changes in neonate to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriately.
* Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
* Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
* Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
* Directs and assists in maintenance and handling of special equipment and instruments.
* Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications, takes appropriate actions and documents.

Compensation/How We Care For You

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($38.04 - $54.87/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
