Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Geriatric Unit

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our geriatric unit for an 8-week assignment. The LPN will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to elderly patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during their stay. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience, hold a valid NC LPN license, and possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. Administer medications, perform wound care, monitor vital signs, and assist with activities of daily living.
  2. Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay. Monitor changes in condition and report any concerns to the healthcare team.
  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient assessments, care plans, and medication administration records.
  4. Communication: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and social workers, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  5. Education: Provide patient and family education on various health topics, including medication management, disease prevention, and self-care techniques.
  6. Safety: Ensure a safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols, implementing fall prevention measures, and promoting a culture of safety.
  7. Empathy and Support: Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards elderly patients and their families. Offer emotional support and comfort during challenging times.
  8. Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver comprehensive and holistic care. Foster a positive work environment through open communication and mutual respect.
  9. Professional Development: Stay current with best practices and guidelines in geriatric nursing. Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
  2. Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in a geriatric setting.
  3. License: Valid North Carolina LPN license.
  4. Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  5. Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with elderly populations.
  6. Availability: Able to work evening shifts (3 PM to 11 PM) and every other weekend.
  7. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing patient needs and unit priorities.
  8. Professionalism: Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
