Job Description Summary:
The Simulation Educator is responsible for simulation-based education in a laboratory setting through evidence-based practice and simulated activities. The role requires demonstrated knowledge, competence, and experience in the field of nurse anesthesia, clinical expertise in providing direct patient care, and the ability to exercise cultural competency throughout the full scope of anesthesia practice. In addition, the Simulation Educator supports simulation-based learning (SBL) and all other immersive learning modalities.
In addition, the ADNP Simulation Educator will support the Open House and Simulation events, the Health Science Simulation Center (HSSC), and community clinical partners interested in integrating simulation-based learning as part of their professional training.Duties and Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

• The SE will coordinate simulation operations activities, includingscheduling, inventory management, maintenance, asset tracking,data collection, and reporting.
• The SE will work closely with the Faculty of Record (FoR),course content experts, and the HSSC Simulation Manager todevelop, coordinate, implement and evaluate simulation-basededucation.
• The SE will educate faculty, instructors, facilitators, and staff inusing simulation applications to align simulation instruction withthe course curriculum.
• The SE will orient participants to simulation systems, coordinatesimulation sessions, obtain feedback, and assist in simulationdebriefing.
• The SE is a resource for faculty, instructors, staff, and studentsin simulation education.
• The SE assists in simulation development, the re-evaluation oflearning objectives, the collaboration of simulation scenarios, assists in program planning, and the development of simulation
evaluation tools.
• The SE surveys the logistics of the simulation learning activities, identifies strengths and opportunities for improvements, and makes recommendations for simulation procedures, configurations, workflow, and facility changes.
• The SE sets up and operates simulation assets, including equipment and anatomy models, patient simulators, task trainers, and hardware peripherals.
• The SE tracks, records, and reports utilization of the program's assets and supplies to ensure availability to support learning activities.
• SE maintains a clean, safe, student-oriented, and well-organized simulation facility and equipment longevity in collaboration with the HSSC staff.
• SE facilitates physical fidelity through the placement of prop, moulage application, and medical equipment, supplies, rooms, and furniture to create a realistic and appropriate learning experience and meet the simulation-based learning objectives.
• The SE will assist with tours and demonstrations for groups, individuals, and stakeholders.
• The SE will assist with human simulation events (e.g., standardized patients).

The ADNP Simulation Educator is encouraged to collaborate with the HSSC and Simulation Educators as needed. Some possible collaborations include:
• Interprofessional education
• Brainstorming
• Research/scholarship
• Assessment tools focused on simulation-based learning
• Faculty development

Mentors students completing the ADNP Project
- Required to chair a minimum of one (1) but no more than three (3)
DNP projects.

CRNA Faculty assignments
• Assist in the administration of comprehensive (oral and written) exams.
• Assist in the admissions application process of file review and interviews, Robinson Rounds, completion ceremonies, new student orientation, annual department retreat, and department events;
• Faculty may also assume advisement duties and be available for student counseling.

Service to Program, College, University and professional community.
• Participation in program, college, and university committees.
• Participation in new student orientation activities, the program open houses, admissions, accreditation activities, exit interviews of graduates and special events.
• Annual participation and assistance in the planning of the airway workshops
• Participation in training sessions with community partners, such as; Management of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) simulation training sessions.
• Represents the program at the local, state, and national meeting levels.
• Maintains effective professional relationships within the program, the CRNA profession, the clinical environment, and the community.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Earned doctorate in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution/program preferred.
• Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification
• Prelicensure master's or doctoral degree with a Nurse Anesthesia major from a regionally accredited institution and nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program.
• Three or more years of clinical experience in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role.
• Current unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
• Current CRNA certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Current BLS, ACLs, and PALs certifications
• Current CITI certificate
• Experience as a faculty member in a nursing education program at the College/University level.
• Experience with virtual/distance teaching platform experience.
• Experience with simulation in education.
• Evidence of scholarship leading to professional presentations, research, and/or publications. Service in professional organizations (e.g., membership and/or committee involvement).

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Demonstrated expertise in nurse anesthesia knowledge and clinical practice.
• Experience as a clinical educator is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Competence in the use of technology in teaching and distance learning. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in developing and delivering instruction, resulting in improved student learning.
• Must value continued scholarship and service to the College of Nursing, University and community.
