REGISTERED NURSE VASCULAR ACCESS PART TIME

SCHEDULE
Department Hours of Service: 0700-1930. This position will primarily be a 10hr position, with shifts scheduled from 0900-1930.
REQUIREMENTS
Position requires Washington State RN license, and at least two years current/recent Med-Surg experience, excellent IV insertion skills.. BLS and ACLS required.
POSITION DETAILS
o UWMC serves a wide variety of patient populations all of which our Vascular Access Team supports including:
* Inpatient acute care
* Inpatient critical care
* Outpatient areas: Clinics, Limited Stay, ED, & Infusion Areas
o In addition to Med/Surg patient populations, UWMC cares for a variety of specialty patient populations including:
* Cardiology
* Oncology including Stem Cell Transplant
* High risk Maternal Infant Care
* Solid organ transplant
o Primary responsibilities include:
* Placement of complex peripheral venous access, including ultrasound-guided PIV insertion.
* Consultation for all CVC troubleshooting including PICC, non-tunneled CVCs, tunneled CVCs, HD catheters, port-a-caths etc.
* Monitoring CVC insertion in acute care departments.
* Consult with medical providers to provide patients with appropriate venous access while supporting vein preservation
* Formal and informal vascular access teaching opportunities
o Out of scope:
o PICC insertion training (new) is generally out of scope for this position, though may be considered on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the team at the time
o Neonatal care
o Vascular access expertise highly preferred. PICC insertion experience preferred.
