Adjunct - Part-Time Associate Degree Nursing

An instructor/faculty member in the Nursing Program is directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives of the Nursing Program, and ensuring program compliance with the Texas Board of Nursing. The instructor will plan, teach, and supervise students in the clinical setting and skills laboratory and will act as a liaison between the program, the community, and clinical affiliates.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* Master of Science in Nursing is preferred; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is acceptable if the program remains in compliance with Texas Board of Nursing Rule 215.7.d and 2.15.7.e https://www.bon.texas.gov/rr_current/215-7.asp.html
* A current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas or compact state.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Sensitive to issues relating to a diverse student body.
* Effective planning, organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Effectively assist with student learning.
* Interacting with students of diverse backgrounds.
* Being punctual for classes/clinical.
* Maintaining an established schedule, including evenings and weekends.
* Maintaining confidentiality of student information.
* Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications necessary for review of and documentation in the electronic health record system.
* Evidence of teaching ability, maintenance of current knowledge and safety.

Experience:

* Three (3) or more years' experience as a practicing nurse, preferably with experience in teaching or supervision of nursing students.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

* Planning, implementing, and supervising students in the skills laboratory, clinical settings, and virtual classroom/clinical setting; acting as a liaison between the programs, community, and clinical affiliates.
* Assume teaching responsibilities and other college related activities as outlined in the policies and procedures manual.
* Supervise and facilitate student learning in direct patient care in a variety of settings; record and analyze student progress in meeting the learning outcomes in clinical courses.
* Maintain quality assurance to remain compliant with all required agencies.
* Obtain qualified preceptors at each clinical facility and supervise preceptors and students in various off campus clinical facilities.
* Will require flexible hours and the ability to work well with students, other faculty, and clinical site personnel; potential for teaching in an online format.
