Automotive Mechanical Engineer Role:Automotive Mechanical Engineer will support the seismic vehicle engineering teamThe main function will be to design key mechanical systems such as hydraulics, machinery frames, engine packages, cooling systems, HVAC, etc.Will test concepts using computerized modeling or physical modelsDevelop, design, and test all aspects of the seismic vibrator product lineAutomotive Mechanical Engineer will identify design problems, develop alternative solutions, and work as a team with other engineersDevelop test and performance plans on both new prototype and current production vehiclesProduce detailed specs using software tools including parts lists and costsIdentify new technologies, industry innovations, and partner relationships for future productsPerforms sustaining activities for existing productsThe Automotive Mechanical Engineer will create full manufacturing specification packages including engineering BOMsComplete Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) and New Part Number Requests (NPRs)Perform project management reporting tasksMeet with internal clients, stakeholders, and liaisons to discuss design conceptsDevelop real-time ideas and design concepts using Autodesk Inventor softwareAutomotive Mechanical Engineer will identify materials for prototyping, engineering builds, alternatives for supply chain shortages, and manufacturing variantsWrite and implement engineering processes and procedures.Automotive Mechanical Engineer Background Profile:Bachelor s degree, ideally in Mechanical Engineering disciplineComputer Assisted Design software degree or diploma, required5 years minimum of Engineering5 years of field experience as an engineer, technician, or technical support with seismic vibrators is highly preferredOr diesel engine design, mobile vehicle hydraulics design, construction or agricultural equipment designOther preferred comparable skills are product design and support experience with heavy industrial mobile equipment in the construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, military or seismic industriesOccasional travel to engineering and production facilitiesProficient in using Autodesk Inventor/VaultSkilled in Autodesk AutoCAD 2DWorking knowledge of analytical tools such as FEA and/or CFDSkilled in analysis and simulation tools such as Ansys, Nastran, Simcenter Amesim, PTC MathcadAbility to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and symbolsStrong Documentation skillsKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
