THE POSITION
Are you interested in making a difference in the safety and security of individuals and properties in the Commonwealth? Are you a recent college emergency management major graduate looking to get some experience under your belt? PEMA is currently searching for a meticulous individual to undertake emergency management responsibilities that are crucial in supporting the Commonwealth during emergencies and disasters. You will collaborate with various state agencies, regional task forces, counties, and localities? The main focus will be on developing training and exercise plans to improve preparedness for incidents that affect Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is structured trainee work in the development, coordination, execution, and promotion of emergency management training and exercises. An employee in this job participates in formal training sessions, workshops, exercises, and on-the-job assignments to develop proficiency in planning, organizing, equipping, and evaluating emergency management training and exercises. Work involves assisting staff in developing, coordinating, promoting, and evaluating emergency management training and exercise programs. Work is performed under the guidance and direction of a supervisor who assigns, and reviews work and ensures attainment of the goals and objectives of the training plan.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Work hours are dependent on activations or other needs of the operation.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after the successful completion of a comprehensive on-site training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ A bachelor's degree in emergency management, homeland security, or a closely related field;or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
+ This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
+ This position requires certification in the following courses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute, within 6 months of hire:
+ IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System
+ IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
+ IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction
+ IS-2200: Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions
