DENIAL NURSE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1. Understand all aspects of the functionality of Access Express with respect to prior authorization and the denials
2. Complete assigned tasks accurately and within specified time limits
3. Maintain smooth working relations with co-workers and supervisors. Be a Team Player
4. Anticipate future events, set realistic goals, timetables, coordinate activities to ensure smooth work flow and time management
5. Understand, promote and review with the principles of medical management to facilitate the right care at the right time in the right settings
6. Understand all Regal Medical Management policies and procedures
7. Communicate effectively and interact with the department managers, nurses, coordinators, regional medical directors and staff daily or as indicated regarding all denials processes
8. Speak clearly, concisely and tactfully on all subjects related to Denials
9. Maintain a working relationship with denials coordinators, the prior auth teams, pharmacy team, medical directors, and network management
10. When necessary, act as liaison between the prior auth coordinators, prior auth nurses, and medical directors
11. Maintain regulatory Turnaround Time Standards per regulatory guidelines
12. Document accurately and completely all necessary information in authorization notes.
13. Communicating with the prior auth teams and medical directors for those denials needing clarification with an accurate summary of the case and recommendation
14. Demonstrates the ability to follow through with requests, sharing of critical information, and getting back to individuals in a timely manner
15. Identifies denials department needs and report to management for improvement opportunities.
16. All other duties as directed by management
Education and/or Experience:
1. Active California Nursing License.
2. Minimum of 3+ year of prior authorization/ denials experience
3. Minimum of 1+ year of acute care/case management experience
4. Proficient in MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Power Point)
5. Knowledge of computers, faxes, printers and all other equipment
6. Ability to deal with responsibility with confidential matters
7. Ability to work in a multi-task, high stress environment
