Work Shifts

8 AM - 4 PM

Job Description
• Ensures timely billing and follow-up of accounts by HCIs under Sr. HCI supervision.
• Weekly monitoring of AR Workques to ensure adherence to follow-up aging standards set by Department/HHC, account balance, reconciliation process, credit balance review, and secondary payer billing follow-up. Ensures staff's timely processing of carrier denials, appeals, and referrals to UM/medical records.
• Follows up on instructions provided to HCIs.
• Scans all documentation timely to allow viewing to other facility users.
• Coordination of periodic management designated unit projects.
• Under supervision of management, provides employee counseling, in accordance with HHC 20- 10 corrective action process without being prompted to.
• Provides ongoing support by evaluating (under management supervision). advising, training, and assisting staff in meeting departmental goals, in accordance with departmental policy/procedure.
• Ensures staff processes carrier denials/appeals within the required timeframe in order to secure revenue.
• Prepares staff evaluations within the required time, addresses staff's Time and Leave and poor job performance issues.
• Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures, as outlined in the requirements of the departmental manual, corporate guidelines, or guidelines of other agencies.
• Meet all compliance standards/requirements such as annual physical assessment, Multi-Star training; Right to Know; Fire Drill participation etc.
• Responsible for wearing professional attire as well as during offsite work when conducting business on behalf of New York City Health+ Hospitals.
• Exhibit flexibility within New York Health Hospitals as it pertains to work assignment, work place, site designation and Tour of Duty.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital records; uses discretion when discussing patient and hospital matters.
• Addresses patients, visitors, and co-workers in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Wears required identification while on duty.
• Follows corporate and hospital regulations, policies and procedures.
• Promotes a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace, which enhances and furthers the Mission, Vision and Value statements; adheres to the Vision/Mission/and Value statement of the organization in all endeavors.
• Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner.
• Adhere to New York City Health+ Hospitals guiding principles.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of service as a Hospital Care Investigator.
