* Administers various therapies and medical gases to achieve the therapeutic objective.
* Teaches the patient proper therapy techniques to elicit patient cooperation and ensure effective therapy.
* Administers safe, effective respiratory treatments, consistent with current standards of practice, to restore normal cardio-pulmonary function in acute care areas excluding Critical Care i.e.: ICU, ED, NICU.
* Administers safe, effective medical gas therapy, consistent with current standards of practice, to achieve restoration of normal oxygenation in acute care areas excluding Critical Care i.e.: ICU, ED, NICU.
* Documents and communicates effects and effectiveness of therapy administered to ensure continuity of care between other members of the health care team.
* Maintains equipment and supplies to ensure decontamination, disinfection, sterilization and proper function of that equipment and supplies.
* Follows the applicable safety and health rules as stated in SEMCs policies and procedures, and performs work related duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Demonstrates Competency
* Meets Professional Standards
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

* Registered student in an AMA and CoARC accredited educational program for Respiratory Therapists.
* Completed a minimum of one clinical semester.
* Holds current limited mandatory certificate to practice Respiratory Therapy in the state where work is being performed.

Specialized Knowledge:

* CPR certified for basic life support
