Certified Interventionist

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Mississippi Educator License with appropriate endorsement

2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Principal/Director or designee

JOB GOAL:

To provide proper academic instruction and interventions for students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides reading, language art, social studies, mathematics, science art, health physical education and/or music to pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

2. Utilizes district-approved resources to provide instruction as well as intense individual and small group instruction Analyzes student data to determine deficits in student learning.

3. Believes strongly that all students can learn and that all teachers are responsible for structuring an educational environment in which all students can be successful.

4. Cooperates with other teachers to determine best practices of instruction.

5. Coordinates with other teachers in developing formative and summative assessments and ensuring alignment to the curriculum

6. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

7. Evaluates academic growth of pupils and keeps appropriate records.

8. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interprets the school program.

9. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve learning problems.

10. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.

11. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

12. Selects and recommends the requisition of books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.

13. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.

14. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.

15. Identifies individual needs of the pupils and make appropriate internal and external referrals.

16. Pulls individual students out of classroom to provide interventions.

17. Supports students along with the classroom teacher.

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to move freely around the classroom and communicate effectively. Additionally, the employee continuously uses hands to grasp items during the day.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
