Our caregivers# commitment is to make a positive difference in the lives of one another, our patients and our community by instilling our vision of Loving Kindness.# # We are looking to hire and train Newly Licensed Registered Nurses.# This position will include extended training in many areas of Nursing.# This is an excellent job opportunity for new Registered Nurses who are interested in learning, growing and taking exceptional care of our patients. # # Newly Licensed Nurse Transition Program # The 12-week, Newly Licensed Nurse Transition Program places a high emphasis on the development of skills, critical thinking, and professional attributes aiding in the successful transition into the hospital setting. # The Newly Licensed nurse will work closely with an experienced preceptor and the York Hospital Education Department to gain confidence and competence in caring for patients. The program consists of the following components: # Preceptorship - Working with an experienced nurse who serves as a role model for professional interactions on the care unit, demonstrates nursing actions, and gives timely and appropriate feedback to the new nurse. The preceptor#s knowledge of the clinical area and the patient population will help guide the new nurse to select relevant and attainable goals and outcomes. # Shared Peer Experience - Scheduled time for sharing and reflection of the orientation and transition process. This is an opportunity to review specific situations seen in the clinical setting, acknowledge what went well, and identify knowledge gaps for future growth. The goal of sharing these experiences is to see #the big picture# in caring for patients and to begin developing critical thinking skills. # Clinical Connections - Scheduled time to shadow members of the interdisciplinary team and connect with various care areas within York Hospital. The purpose is to provide an opportunity to enhance the patient experience through knowledge of the care continuum, improve patient outcomes by building relationships, and improve unit-to-unit/service line communications. # Expert Clinical Speakers - Orientation is a team effort and incorporates the frontline nurses, therapists and clinical leaders that will aid in identifying the skills needed to care for patients. These experts will review the process and practice highlights identified in York Hospital policies, and identify key assessment, intervention, or monitoring components vital for safe patient care. # Online Education and Classroom Exercises - Learning will occur in both the online and live classroom setting. These methods are used to develop critical thinking skills and allow for questions and answers. # Simulation and Skill - Scheduled time for using simulation to develop skills and assessment techniques necessary for safe patient care. Learners will have time to practice, ask questions, and play out realistic scenarios with a patient simulator to prepare for caring for certain patient populations. Newly Licensed Nurse Transition Program
