Qualifications: Valid and registered Illinois R.N. License, Health Clearance, including TB test, as proven by a physical examination.
Purpose: To provide health services in the school, including the delivery of services to students and staff members. Duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional school nurse practice and the IL Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act.
Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
- Plans health services within the school.
- Maintains the health office, records, and student rest area.
- Assists in the organization of screening procedures.
- Conducts vision and hearing screenings if certified.
- Administers minor first aid care.
- Prepares letters and reports.
- Administers and monitors medication given to students.
- Accompanies student to the emergency room, in the case of an emergency when no parent can be reached.
- Comply with professional code of ethics and school policies
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings (as appropriate).
- Performs other tasks (as appropriate).
