Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) provides people with disabilities comprehensive, individualized services to realize optimal personal independence and employment. PERT is an interagency school-to-work Transition program jointly administered, managed, and directed by the Virginia Departments of Education and Rehabilitative Services which currently serves all local school divisions across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Postsecondary Education Rehabilitation Transition (PERT) Program of WWRC is recruiting for a PERT Transition Specialist-Central. This position is located in the greater Richmond area in order to be able to serve Richmond and surrounding areas.

The incumbent will work as a member of the WWRC PERT program serving as a lead facilitator for assigned local school division and local Department of Rehabilitative Service Office PERT Teams.

This position is:

Accountable for the coordination and delivery of comprehensive Postsecondary Education Rehabilitation Transition (PERT) transition services and programs within the Central Virginia, consistent with PERT goals and objectives and Agency priorities.

Responsible for gathering and documenting qualitative and quantitative data regarding the effectiveness of services and sponsor/client satisfaction with services provided within the assigned region; and for participating in ongoing PERT quality assurance and program evaluation meetings and other business processes.

Provides PERT training and technical assistance in the assigned region through consultation and resource identification, based on best practices in transition, thereby ensuring collaborative education/rehabilitation and other interagency and inter community services to youth with disabilities and their families served through the program.

This position services the following school districts: Amelia County, Appomattox County, Buckingham County, Charles City County, Charlotte County, Chesterfield County, Cumberland County, Goochland County, Henrico County, Hanover County, Louisa County, Lunenburg County, New Kent County, Nottoway County, Powhatan County, Prince Edward County, and Richmond City.

To meet the expectations of the job, the incumbent must have access to personally identifiable and confidential information about agency consumers and/or agency staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Ideal candidate will have:

Knowledge / Experience in: the school-to-work transition processes and related programs and services; education and rehabilitation needs of youth and young adults with disabilities and their families in the transition process; and group dynamics.

Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrated Skills in: facilitation of meetings and team processes; team building and collaborative problem-solving skills and abilities; negotiation of diverse community organizations, agencies, and other resources; client-focused advocacy skills; and, effective oral and written communication, including articulation of student assessment results in clear behavioral terms.

Demonstrated abilities to: conduct and evaluate community-based needs assessments; and, to facilitate community-based and other resources to meet identified needs. Organizational skills are essential.

This position is managed from the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC); This position requires extensive travel within the Central, VA region and to/from WWRC for assigned team responsibilities, assignments, and immediate supervision.
