Position Summary

Leads planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the county-wide Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) Magnet Programs within the Advanced Studies and Programs (ASP) Office; provides recruitment, application, technical, financial, and evaluation support for these programs; collaborates with district-wide magnet and curriculum coordinators, PVA magnet principals, school-based PVA magnet department chairs and event teacher specialists, networks with greater Annapolis-Baltimore-Washington arts professionals and artists in higher education, performs other related duties as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Leads the design, development, and implementation of AACPS preK-12 PVA Magnet Programs.

2. Manages the PVA Magnet Office, including the management of PVA programming, liaisoning between central office and PVA magnet schools and staff, liaisoning between ASP and Curriculum & Instruction staff, and networking with local and regional artists.

3. Leads the annual county-wide PVA magnet recruitment, application, and audition processes.

4. Serves as a liaison to the Departments of Technology and Budget & Finance to review and manage the planning for and purchase of all technology-based instructional tools and software used in the PVA magnet programs.

5. Designs, plans, and conducts presentations on PVA Magnet programs for AACPS employees, Board of Education, arts-based community organizations, higher education partners, potential donors, and the community-at-large.

6. Coordinates with the Department of Transportation to plan all regular, after hours, and field trip transportation requests related to the PVA magnet programs.

7. Collaborates with other Magnet and Curriculum & Instruction Coordinators to appropriately use and augment AACPS curricular elements for targeted use in our PVA magnet programs.

8. Coordinates and cooperates with AACPS Art, Music, and Dance Coordinators to integrate the vision of their offices into PVA magnet programs.

9. Coordinates and manages public relations and marketing for all major events related to AACPS PVA magnet programs, including all recruitment and informational events.

10. Designs, develops, and implements elementary school co-curricular music programming to support instrumental music development in schools with high percentages of underserved youth.

11. Reviews, maintains, and updates AACPS regulations, policies, and procedures related to PVA magnet programs.

12. Collaborates with appropriate ASP staff and school-based PVA magnet staff to develop, administer, and analyze annual standardized magnet program stakeholder surveys and evaluations.

13. Coordinates and supports the Central office magnet program leaders to write an annual Magnet Program Report to include PVA student engagement and achievement data, PVA programs' challenges and successes, special awards and grants and community engagement.

14. Coordinates and chairs regular county-wide PVA magnet program meetings with school-based magnet program leaders.

15. Coordinates and supports regular PVA magnet advisory board meetings composed of representatives from all PVA stakeholder groups.

16. Collaborates with magnet program staff to seek and apply for external grant funding to support PVA magnet program quality and growth.

17. Serves as liaison to Maryland State Department of Education, LEAs institutions of higher education, employers association, unions, regional business and industry professional groups, community groups, and other organizations to present AACPS PVA magnet program successes.

18. Prepares proposals and presents PVA magnet program successes at regional and national conferences.

19. Serves on regional and statewide committees related to PVA Magnet Programs, as needed.

20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an Arts related course of study.

Experience

* Five (5) years of successful and increasingly responsible experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
* Knowledge of K-12 school organization and administration.
* Demonstrated success in a leadership role within a K-12 arts magnet program.
* Experience writing arts and arts-integrated curricula.
* Experience with designing and implementing arts and arts integrated teacher professional development activities.
* Demonstrated success managing large-scale projects, including design, implementation and budget management.
* Proven ability in acquiring external program funding, including fundraising, large scale grant writing, and associated funds management.
* Demonstrated ability in ongoing program evaluation.
* Active membership in a statewide or national arts education-related professional organization.
* Ability to work with a variety of personnel and stakeholders, including school system staff, higher education, business and industry, and the public.
* Ability to effectively present AACPS magnet initiatives and program information to a variety of audiences (BOE, directors, executive staff, school facilities, arts community, higher education, business and industry, parent/community groups).
* Knowledge of community development, preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
* Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or Power Point preferred).
* Ability to create a positive environment that values, respects and leverages all employee talents while providing fair advancement for all employees.

Licenses/Certifications

* Teaching certification is highly desired.
* Possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license and have daily access to a car.
