GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to the Program Director - Respiratory Care, the Adjunct Faculty in Respiratory Care has the primary responsibilities of teaching disciplinary or interdisciplinary courses for the Associate of Science in Respiratory Care curriculum, in an online or hybrid format, capable of being fully delivered asynchronously or semi-synchronously to students in off-campus locations. This position is for the Fall 2023 semester, with the possibility of additional semester-long appointments, contingent on successful observations and division needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
  1. Develop and teach 7- week and 14-week Respiratory Care courses such as RSC 2010 Pulmonary Pathology and RSC 1010 Respiratory Care Procedures I.   2. Design and archive all course materials online, in both the College's LMS and in the Division-wide shared cloud space, as maintained by the Dean of Arts & Health Sciences and divisional program director. A standard syllabus and some course materials will be provided by the division, but the faculty is expected to tailor the materials to fit the course student learning outcomes (SLOs), the needs of the students enrolled in the course, and the individual faculty's teaching methods and areas of expertise.
  3. Conform to best practices standards and guidelines, as set forth by, but not limited to, the CoARC programmatic accreditation and other relevant discipline-specific professional societies.
  1. Maintain and keep visible all course materials for approximately three years.
  1. Respond to student questions and concerns in an appropriate format within 24 hours.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adjunct Faculty are welcome, but not required, to attend College and Division faculty meetings and Professional Development opportunities as appropriate.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Minimum bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential.
  • Minimum of 2 semesters of college-level online teaching experience. Experience on the faculty of an accredited respiratory program is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver high-impact, engaging electronic course materials. Prior experience with the Brightspace LMS is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to new online systems and procedures quickly and efficiently.
