DescriptionJob SummaryUnder general direction with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive skills obtained through education and experience, to support and guide Private Client Group Financial Advisors with equity market views through the distribution of research on market strategy, technical and sector analysis both for internal and external use. Provides comprehensive equity solutions that includes index targets, sector preferences, thematic topics, and investable stock lists (using Raymond James analyst research). Utilizes a wide variety of research sources to formulate equity strategy for the firm. Leads, oversees and supervises team to provide background research by collecting, organizing and analyzing data for the final production of reports and presentations. Serves as equity market strategist spokesperson for the firm on various media outlets. Will have interaction with Senior Management.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides top-down and bottom-up analysis on the equity markets. Produces market commentary and charts on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of macroeconomic variables on trends and key developments that impact the market.Assists in providing long-term, thematic equity research publications.Works closely with the Chief Investment Officer and serves as a member of the Investment Strategy Committee.Develops sophisticated market intelligence and identifies trends to be used in published research. Primary decision maker on any and all changes to the sector recommendations as well as thematic stock lists.Prepares and publishes reports on various market related topics (as needed). Serves as firm’s equity strategy spokesperson with media. Serves as equity market strategist for the Financial Advisors and presents at conferences, webinars, client events and client meetings. Performs human resources activities, including identifying performance problems and seeking guidance for remedial action; reviewing performance; and participating in interviewing and selecting staff. Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews, evaluates and leads the work of associate(s) operating in intermediate risk areas of the firm. Coaches and mentors team, identifies training needs and recommends development programs.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge ofAdvanced concepts, practices and procedures of finance, accounting, and valuation analysis. Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry. Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations. Financial markets and products. Institutional and retail investor landscape. Industry trends and key executives.Skill inAnalyzing and interpreting financial statements. Identifying relationships to draw logical conclusions and interpret results for use in decision-making. Quantitative and analytical financial modeling skills sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity market valuation metrics. Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentation. Operating standard office equipment and using required software application (i.e. FactSet) to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.Ability toAnalyze financial markets to develop unique insights and successful views of the markets.  Communicate effectively with both advisors and clients.Analyze industry specific data and communicate findings to internal sales force.Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with industry executives and at all organizational levels. Multi-task and work on a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Efficiently manage time and resources in order to overcome quantitative and analytical challenges as they arise. Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization. Be proactive and demonstrate readiness and ability to initiate action. Project positive, professional image with both internal and with external business contacts. Implement changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances. Demonstrate uncompromising adherence to ethical principles.Educational/Previous Experience RequirementsEducation/Previous ExperienceBachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting or Business and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in the financial services industry.
