Description

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Provides age and culturally appropriate care. Serves as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Coordinates the preparation of patients scheduled for surgery/procedure and patient care. Orients and mentors new staff members. Carries out physician orders. Instructs and educates patients and families. Provides nursing care to the patient scheduled for surgical and other invasive procedures. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient after the surgical and other invasive procedures. Age specific admission and ongoing assessments are completed, documented and used to develop a plan of care.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required: Previous work experience (1+ years) as a clinical nurse is preferred; at least one year previous work experience as a registered nurse. Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required: Current registration with California State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse. BLS and ACLS certification required. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work. Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner. Work under stressful conditions. Work irregular hours.

Expected to adhere to all hospital policies and to act as a role model in adherence to hospital and perioperative services policies and standards.

Summary

As a Clinical Nurse with AHMC, RN will make providing service a priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating). Plans and provides advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the California Board of Nursing. Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
