Required Certifications and Licenses/experience:
* Active NJ RN License or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement
* BLS certification through the American Heart Association
* Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
* Previous oncology experience and OCN preferred
Scheduling Requirements:
* Full time - Days
* Monday - Friday
* 9am-5pm
Job Description:
* Respects patient s rights and maintains patient confidentiality
* Promptly answer incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner
* Answers to routine inquiries regarding directions, appointment times, etc., in written policies,
* Retrieves voice mail messages on time and directs calls appropriately
* Identify patients at an increased risk for discharge barriers or readmission
* Clinical appointments
* Treatment appointments
* Diagnostic tests
* Consultation appointments
* Radiation/Oncology appointment
* Referring community provider appointment
* Confirmation of home needs
* Review discharge checklist and instructions with patients and caregivers
Essential Functions:
The Registered Nurse (RN) organizes and administers individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports philosophy, objectives, and the mission and vision of Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices per the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements, and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
