Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of highly qualified and and credentialed interpreters, provide direct interpreting in a variety of K-12 educational settings. Prepare for interpreting assignments by obtaining lesson plans, readinng assignments, previewing class materials, consulting interpreters and resoures such as ASL Core for conceptually accurate academic signs for vocabulary. Develop and adhere to a professional development plan.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

High school diploma or GED and fluency in both English and American Sign Language; Degree in Interpreting, American Sign Language, Special Education, or related field and an Education Interpreting Performance Assessment (EIPA )score of 3.0 or higher, or a sign language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) level of Intermediate.

If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (i.e., copy of BA Degree, high school diploma, college transcripts) and if applicable, licensure and/or certification (i.e., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driving certification).
