Mission Oncology Partners San Antonio is seeking an APRN to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. The Advanced Practice RN works closely with the physician to provide quality patient care in the Radiation Oncology field.

 About the Opportunity:

·        Full-time, permanent position in Radiation Oncology private practice

·        Two clinics located in Live Oak and Brooks City Base

·        Outpatient Freestanding environment

·        Collaborative multispecialty environment, with Medical Oncologists onsite.

·        Monday to Friday Day schedule – no nights or weekends

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Assist physician in treating patients; Obtain history and physical.

·        Family counseling and counsel patients on preventative care.

·        Record pertinent data on patient charts for signature by physician. Ensure availability and completeness of documentation, reports, and imaging documentation.  

·        Facilitate supervising physician referral of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, or other resources of the community or other physicians  

·        Dictate progress notes, history and physical, and discharge summaries   

·        Administer and or order medication upon request of supervising physician   

·        Initiate emergency resuscitation and stabilization measures as necessary.

·        Perform chart audits and oversee patient throughput. 

·        Coordinate in care of patients: testing and preparation of procedures  

·        Initiate consultation and monitor patients for special tests  

·        Answering physician patient calls  

·        Maintains attendance according to scheduled days and hours and appropriate dress and appearance standards, according to company policy.    

·        Attends mandatory company training sessions as required by state/federal law where applicable.  

·        Must properly control the release of proprietary and confidential information. 

·        Must be knowledgeable regarding HIPAA regulations. 


  Specific Tasks for Radiation Oncology Clinical Offices:

  ·        Direct care and management in the outpatient setting to include documentation of visits, patient and family education, order and review diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, management of symptoms, counseling and support, collaboration with and referrals to other health care providers, and provision of education to staff, students, and the community. 

·        Interdependent practice with collaborative physician(s) and team.  

·        Proficient use of Electronic Health Record in the delivery of care.

·        Build strong collaborative relationships across the organization and the local medical community. 

·        Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as appropriate. 

·        Participate in tumor board, institutional training, and meetings as required. 

·        Performs other duties as assigned.  


Qualification Requirements:

·        Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. 

·        RN Texas state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.  

 

Other Requirements:

·        Maintains certification in accordance with Department of Regulations.  

·        Able to perform health care tasks in radiation oncology delegated by supervising physician efficiently and effectively consistent with patient’s health and welfare. 

·        Able to obtain and sustain clinical hospital privileges.  

·        Excellent interpersonal skills.  

·        Ability to work with minimum supervision. 

·        Ability to travel distances within San Antonio.

·        Experience in Oncology specialties a plus


Language Skills:

·        Must be able to read and interpret documents 

·        Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence 

·        Must be able to communicate effectively in one-on-one situations with patients, physicians, and other employees of the organization
