Job Overview:

The Patient Access Rep Senior position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely. The Patient Access Rep Senior is responsible to greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner. A core function of this position is to ensure that all customers, external and internal, are treated with the highest level of respect. The Patient Access Rep Senior is to provide a safe and secure environment for the patient during the registration process. Clearly review and communicate all forms and obtain required signatures for services provided. The Patient Access Rep Senior ensures accuracy and thoroughness in collecting the patient data, documentation of data and utilizes the technology available to complete the registration. Participates in creating a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction. The Patient Access Rep Senior is a working registrar with added responsibilities of training employees, assists with developing department schedules and works closely with the Patient Access Supervisor to support all needs of the department.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ High School Diploma required

+ Minimum of 5 years Patient Access experience

+ CHAA or CRCR Certification

+ Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care.

+ Medical terminology and computer skills

Scheduling Requirements:

+ Shift- 3:00pm-11:00pm with every other weekends/holidays

+ Full Time

Essential Functions:

+ Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers

+ Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling, pre-registration and/or registration, based on assigned work

+ Obtains and accurately documents all patient demographic and insurance information

+ Verifies insurance information, performs financial clearance activity and ensures all required forms are provided, reviewed, explained and signed by the patient or approved person on behalf of the patient

+ Demonstrates a high level of efficiency, accuracy and productivity

+ Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information to avoid duplicating a medical record; if a duplicate medical record is made, follows all department procedures to correct duplication

+ Complies with organizational policies on Advance Directives and Patient Rights

+ Maintains department productivity by asking for additional duties when patient flow permits

+ Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary

+ Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of the computer systems used for registration and how to trouble shoot issues that impact operations

+ Assists in the throughput of patients within the department by monitoring patient wait times, delegating

tasks and timing team breaks/lunches to maintain the customer services levels at all times
