RN - 3 Medical

Allen Hospital - Waterloo

Part-time Day & Night Shfits available. 12 hour shifts with weekend rotation.

3 Medical is a 25-bed inpatient unit. Staff here see a variety of general medical patients. There's a focus on respiratory illnesses, renal failure, altered mental status, or GI issues. On 3 Med, you will experience a wide variety of patients with high acuity. The teamwork on 3 Medical is stellar and you'll feel why after just a few shifts here

Responsibilities

Collaborative Care enables all members of the multidisciplinary care team to practice at the top of their scope - leveraging your unique skills, training, and strengths. As an RN in this care model, there is a built-in clinical ladder to support your career goals. This includes the potential for leadership and growth by working in different roles within the model by being an Attending or Lead Nurse.

As an RN in this care model, you will provide care for a specified group of patients, utilizing all the skills you have gained in obtaining your license. With the support of team members within the care group, you will perform tasks or skills within your scope of practice, including but not limited to:

* Provide safe and reliable patient centered care.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
* Manage care of patients and ensure the completion of assessments and vital signs.
* Administer medications as ordered by the provider.
* Complete bedside procedures (e.g., foley insertion, NG, dressing changes, drains, etc.).
* Provide evidenced-based patient education starting at time of admission.
* Document daily progress toward care plan goals.
* Round with providers and notify them of patient updates or obtain orders as appropriate.
* Complete discharge education and review instructions with patient and/or caregivers.
* Document in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

* Associates Degree in Nursing.
* Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
* Multicultural sensitivity, customer/patient focused.
* Microsoft Office - basic computer skills.
* Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
