Range: $40,000- $45,000 based on experience

Position Summary: This position incorporates all aspects of the athletic training profession. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work with the Head Athletic Trainer to provide coverage for 20 intercollegiate teams. General duties include but are not limited to, ensuring compliance with all NCAA, and HIPPA laws, prevention, care and rehabilitation for all student athletes. This is an 10 month renewable position.

General Purpose: To prevent, care and rehabilitate student athletes in a way that will promote and demonstrate the mission and goals of Clarkson University.

Remote Workdays: This is a full time on Campus position with zero remote workdays.

Position Responsibilities:

* Provide necessary practice and game coverage for athletic teams. This will require travel to numerous away venues and working on weekends and nights.
* Evaluate injured athletes and determine appropriate care and rehabilitation required both in and out of season.
* Provide appropriate referral assistance for student athletes in need of additional care both in and out of season in a timely manner (i.e. Physical Therapists/Emergency Medicine/Physicians etc.).
* Provide appropriate treatments for student athletes in need of rehabilitation.
* Provide appropriate pre and post practice/game care.
* Provide health care information and advise and counsel athletes, parents and coaches on matters pertaining to the physical, psychological and emotional health and well-being of the competitive athlete
* Provide visiting teams with adequate supplies and training room assistance.
* Assist with overseeing training rooms to assure proper maintenance, cleaning, and supplies.
* Maintain necessary injury reports as well as documentation of treatment and rehabilitation procedures
* Review medical and insurance forms to determine whether or not each student athlete meets the necessary criteria for participation.
* Assist with the training, supervision and scheduling of student trainers.
* Assist the Head Trainer in the administration of Clarksons Athletic Insurance Policy.
* Assist the Head Trainer by procuring and monitoring athletic supplies and equipment.
* Establish an emergency list for each team with insurance information and medical history of student athletes.
* Have ability to move outdoor supplies (water, ice, etc.) to game/practice venues. This includes lifting approx 50lbs.
* All other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer

Education:

Minimal Qualifications: Masters Degree and NATABOC certified and certified to work in the USA and New York State. Current certification in CPR and First Aid required. Ability to relate effectively to student athletes, coaches and other health care professionals, and the University community

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 2 years collegiate experience

Experience:

Minimal Experience: 1-3 years of collegiate athletic training experience. Demonstrated commitment to furthering the goals and objectives of both, the University and Athletics Department. Ability to successfully communicate with student-athletes and coaching staff. Understanding of the role of the student-athlete in a competitive academic/athletic environment and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a variety of constituency groups. Knowledge of NCAA Division I and III rules and regulations.

Preferred Experience: 2-4 years of collegiate athletic training
