* Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
* Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
* Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
* Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
* Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
* Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
* Be proficient in and perform fetal non-stress tests
* Assist provider with procedures; amniocentesis, IUD insertion/removal, cerclage removal
* Perform wound assessment/care; e.g., staple removal, dressing change, debridement, etc.
* Administer facility ordered medications; oral, intramuscular, subcutaneously
* Perform telephone triage of obstetrical, post-partum, pre-pregnancy patients. Call patients with laboratory results, obtain blood glucose readings, prior authorizations, refill prescriptions as per provider order
* Educate patients on prenatal screening tests/results specific to Maternal Fetal Medicine, self-injection (IM/SQ), signs and symptoms of pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, diabetes in pregnancy (insulin self-injection, blood glucose monitoring, diet, etc)
* Review patient charts from regional OB providers to ensure all appropriate information is obtained prior to MFM visit
