Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Oncology RN for our offices located in Norfolk and Hampton.

Responsibilities

* Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician
* Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician
* Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions. Initiates appropriate action.
* Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems
* Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow
* Phone triage as assigned
* Documents all elements of care
* Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants
* Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider
* Assesses patient and family needs

Qualifications

* Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferred
* Oncology experience strongly preferred
* Current RN state license required
* Current BCLS certification required
* OCN certification preferred
* Must be willing to travel between offices as needed
