**UH Truman Medical Center** is located in the Health Sciences District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Health Sciences District represents a robust academic community, leading the forefront of biomedical research and cutting edge technology. Partnered with UMKC and Children's Mercy Hospital. University Health serves as the cornerstone in educating the next generation of healthcare practitioners. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we're a leader in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, with world-class expertise in chronic disease management and women's services, including high-risk maternity care. The Health Sciences District is also home to the University Health 1 and 2 buildings. UH 1 is UH's beautiful specialty outpatient clinics and day-surgery center and UH 2 is the location for all of our primary care and women's care clinics.

**UH Lakewood Medical Center** is located between Kansas City and Lee's Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

**UH Behavioral Health** is the KC metro area's largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The **Crossroads Building** , located in Kansas City's vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

**Job Description**

The Patient Liaison navigates the medical system, then informs, counsels and helps patients and their families understand the results. Acts as an advocate for all patients, family members and guests by investigating and responding to questions and concerns in a non-judgmental and sensitive manner with all parties concerned. Is empathetic, patient and a good communicator. The Patient Liaison actively participates in evaluating complaint/grievance data and processes for improvement. The Patient Liaison also works with leadership and department managers and directors to develop behavioral care plans and customer service training plans to aid in a positive patient experience. The Patient Liaison demonstrates the consistent ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize the minimum necessary rule. In addition to having the ability to think critically in order to prioritize cases to determine the best course of action and when to escalate concerns on a case by cases bases.

Minimum Requirements

+ Associates Degree in Psychology or related field,

+ Ability to provide caring and helpful attitude when interacting with internal and external contacts.

+ Ability to build cooperative partnerships by treating each person, both inside and outside of the organization, as a customer.

+ Demonstrates ability to identify special needs of patients with concerns.

+ Able to foster an environment where patients feel comfortable in bringing forth complaints and/or concerns.

+ Ability to deal with diverse and stressful situations in a calm manner.

+ Ability to perform duties with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing.

+ Good organizational skills.

+ Basic computer knowledge to perform job functions.

+ Ability to display a caring and helpful attitude when interacting with internal and external contacts.

+ Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations relative to the position.

+ Knowledge of patient rights.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field.

+ Bi-lingual competency.

+ Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting.

+ Familiar with computer software programs, including Excel and Access. Competency in report writing and graphs and table creation.
