This position is pivotal within the Bunker Hill College Community (BHCC), primarily tasked with overseeing BHCC's equity policy and processes, which are designed to prevent identity-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct. This role actively contributes to driving the College's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives through services, consultation, and leadership across individual, programmatic, and institutional levels.

The Deputy for Equity and Title IX Coordinator reports to the Associate Vice President and Chief Equity and Compliance Officer and this team plays a key role in managing, responding to, and resolving reports related to identity-based discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, intimate partner violence, and retaliation involving BHCC students, faculty, staff, or relevant third parties. Additionally, this role contributes to developing and delivering educational training programs for the community and supports the day-to-day operations of this work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead equity and Title IX investigator by conducting fair, thorough, and impartial investigations of complaints.
  • In equity complaints, analyze initial complaints and intake reports to identify alleged violations. Develop investigation plans, conduct interviews with parties and witnesses, collect relevant documentation, review evidence, and provide recommendations for case outcomes following established policies. Prepare detailed investigative reports based on findings from the investigation.
  • In Title IX complaints, create investigation plans, conduct interviews with parties and witnesses, gather relevant documentation, compile all evidence for review by the parties and their advisors, and prepare an investigative report summarizing all pertinent evidence. This report will then be sent to the parties and their advisors.
  • Act as an impartial fact-finder throughout the investigation and resolution process to guarantee a timely, fair, and equitable outcome for all involved parties.
  • Confirm and ensure that all involved parties comprehend their rights and responsibilities during the investigation. Offer regular updates to impacted parties throughout the process. Refer parties to resources and/or colleagues as needed to ensure they receive appropriate support.
  • Utilizing the affirmative action policy, establish standardized investigation protocols and regularly review them for potential improvements based on evolving circumstances and best practices.
  • Assist with delivering online and/or in-person individual or group Title IX training for the campus community which may include developing or utilizing existing training materials and collaborating with campus partners.
  • Assist with leading equity efforts and initiatives on campus, such as collaborating with campus partners to create and deliver training programs focused on DEI topics such as unconscious bias, cultural competence, and inclusive leadership. Supporting recruitment and retention by collaborating with HR and academic departments to implement inclusive recruitment practices and support programs that enhance recruitment, retention and success of diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Regularly update the Associate Vice President and Chief Equity and Compliance Officer on the status of complaints, investigations, and inquiries. Offer pertinent information to assist in determining sanctions, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in law, student affairs, higher education, social work, counseling, criminal justice, human resources, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge, training, and 3+ years' progressive experience related to Title IX, VAWA, Title VII, employment law, sexual misconduct and/or intimate partner violence, employee relations, and other relevant civil rights statutes.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), Equal, Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), or other similar state and federal agencies.
  • Experience conducting complex investigations and preparing detailed, thorough, and accurate investigative reports.
  • Experience working sensitively and objectively with parties in disputes arising from allegations of sexual misconduct, discrimination and/or harassment.
  • Experience in maintaining record-keeping systems related to investigations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, sound judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, including investigative report writing and cross-cultural communication.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including the capacity to manage a complex, demanding, and varied caseload with attention to concerns including timeliness, confidentiality, impartiality, and efficacy.
  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity in all forms.


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $116,000.00
