Job Overview:
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. Is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. Responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The Registered Nurse as an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Preferred:
+ BA/BS/BSN degree preferred.
+ Completion of Clinical experience in NLN accredited school preferred.
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ Current New Jersey RN license
+ Current AHA BLS Certification
+ National Certification preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Shift working, 7:00-7:30
Essential Functions:
+ Bases evaluation on patient s response to interventions, which include, but are not limited to, medications, treatments and education.
+ Collects information from supportive healthcare members to assist in evaluation process.
+ Communicates essential patient care information within appropriate time frames.
+ Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines.
+ Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate s competence and patient care needs.
+ Documents care/patient education to standards, utilizing designated tools, forms and systems.
+ Initiates/develops care plans and discharge plans in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools, e.g., patient care pathways.
+ Integrates psychosocial, physical, nutritional and rehabilitation needs of the patient in patient care and discharge planning.
+ Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department.
+ Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified codes.
+ Performs evaluation of patient care according to applicable department standards and utilizing designate tools/systems.
+ Performs interventions in accordance with applicable policy and procedure, safety guidelines and infection- control principles.
+ Provides patient/family education according to the plan of care.
+ Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals.
+ Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care.
