Summary

The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing program and has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. iThe nurse extern I is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The nurse extern is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and nurse extern skills and abilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

* High school diploma or GED
* Enrolled in technical or vocational nursing training



Required Licenses/Certifications

* Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and is in the clinical rotations portion of the curriculum.
* Has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing Course
* Current BLS for health care providers



Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills.
* Ability to use computer driven patient care equipment.
