Ensures fiscal, quality and customer service outcomes for the department. Collaborates with Director of Nursing for ongoing WOC nurse program development. Develops, organizes and directs wound and ostomy care services to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. Provides leadership for facility pressure ulcer prevention initiatives and wound and ostomy education. Capable of functioning with a high degree of autonomy. Provides oversight of day to day clinical operations for WOCN department. Demonstrates above average communication skills, good interpersonal skills and personal integrity. Collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, staff and outside agencies as required. Provide consultation, direct assistance and expertise in the delivery and management of patient with altered skin integrity, wounds, ostomies and fistulas. Coordinates in service programs as needed to assist nursing and medical staff to maintain knowledge and competence in wound care. Facilitates the collection and analysis of statistics related to wounds in the facility. Responsible to establish short and long term objectives, identifying areas of improvement for promoting both quality and cost effective patient care, and team and service evaluation. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing evidence based programs provided through Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Society and Education programs. Position requires continuous professional development and continuing education for evidence based delivery of wound and ostomy care.Description

  • BSN or MSN required. Minimum 5 years nursing experience. Preferred experience as a WOC nurse. Current AL licensure. BLS required. Completion of an accredited WOC or ET nurse education program required. Certification in specialty area within 2 years of WOCNEP completion required.Must be clear and concise in oral and written communication. Must function as a manager of their own practice. Must demonstrate talent for interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork and working well with others. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and mental toughness in challenging situations. Must foster a cooperative work environment. Must effectively develop priorities.Registered Nurse (RN) License, Basic Life Support (BLS)
