Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.The Stormwater Team focuses on developing drainage and water quality solutions for new and retrofit stormwater facilities.  Our work spans all project phases from preliminary and conceptual planning, alternative analysis and selection, to design and construction, We prepare stormwater management plans, work with agencies to prioritize storm and water quality improvements, design stormwater collection and conveyance systems, water quality infrastructure, erosion control plans, design flood mitigation, Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) and Low Impact Development (LID) solutions, fish passage and stream restoration. Primary ResponsibilitiesAs a Water Resources Senior Engineer (Stormwater), you’ll be responsible for taking a lead role in stormwater engineering planning and design, stormwater regulatory and permitting, preparation of technical reports, and developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for a wide range of public and private development projects. You will work collaboratively with other design disciplines to provide integrated solutions and develop business opportunities. This role reports to and works closely with the Stormwater Business Class Lead, and works with the transportation, fisheries, and other water resources groups.The Stormwater Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Lead the stormwater studies and designs for a wide variety of projects including: Transportation and highwaysLarge and small site developmentPublic works stormwater infrastructure developmentGreen stormwater infrastructure (GSI)Best management practices (BMPs) for water quality treatmentLow-impact developmentPerform watershed and water quality assessments and BMP prioritizationDeveloping of regional, and comprehensive stormwater management plansLead and coordinate with multidisciplined teams to develop stormwater plans, specifications, and technical reportsDevelop and maintain relationships with clients and professionalsPrepare materials for and lead presentations Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic stormwater/drainage modelsEngineering report and memo preparationMentor and train junior staffPerform other duties as neededQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources, or a related field from an accredited four year college or universityProfessional Engineer license (PE)Minimum of ten (10) years’ of work experience required specific to the position described.  Experienced in managing projects and in working with clientsAbility to function as an active team player in a diverse, multidisciplinary environmentExpertise with Washington State (and local agency) stormwater manuals, regulatory requirements and industry practiceFamiliarity with DOT and other stormwater design guidelinesExperience in coordinating, managing, and working with multidisciplinary projects and staffAbility to work independently and as part of a larger project teamExperience in the design and management of a wide variety of transportation, public works, and site development stormwater projectsExperience in alternative and conceptual drainage and stormwater infrastructure design   Experience in developing Low Impact Development (LID) design solutionsExperience with stormwater hydrologic and hydraulic drainage design. Proficient with stormwater design software such as XPSWMM, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, WWHM, MGSFlood or HY8.Excellent writing and communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint softwareFully vaccinated for COVID-19. This position requires onsite client visits, or, this position will be co-located at the client site.
