Position: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Winston-Salem, NC    

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift (Nights): 3 Days, 12 Hours

 

Job Summary

 

As a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care within the intermediate care setting. You will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex medical conditions who require close monitoring and interventions. Role will involve monitoring patients' vital signs, administering medications, providing patient education, and coordinating care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients admitted to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including physical, psychosocial, and environmental factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings, physician orders, and evidence-based practices.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygen saturation levels closely, identifying any changes or abnormalities and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, to coordinate patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their condition, treatment plan, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate potential complications, intervene promptly in emergent situations, and advocate for patients' needs.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record system.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including infection control standards and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including continuing education programs and performance improvement initiatives, to enhance nursing practice and promote quality care delivery. #INDHC
